Kazakh fonts for Photoshop and CorelDRAW: how to install them

Photoshop, Illustrator and CorelDRAW take fonts from the system. Three steps: download a font with Kazakh letters, install it and restart the app.

Photoshop, Illustrator and CorelDRAW don’t store fonts themselves — they take them from the system. So all you need is to install the font file in Windows or macOS and restart the app. The key is choosing a font that has every Kazakh letter; otherwise Ә or Ң will be replaced with a glyph from another font or an empty box.

Step 1. Download a font with Kazakh letters

In the Kazakh Fonts catalog, each font is marked with whether it has all nine Kazakh Cyrillic letters and the 2021 Latin alphabet. Open the font’s page and click «Download ↗»: this takes you to the font’s page on Google Fonts, where you can download the .zip archive.

Step 2. Install the font on your system

  • Windows: unzip the archive, right-click the .ttf or .otf file and choose «Install» or «Install for all users».
  • macOS: unzip the archive, double-click the font file and click «Install» in the window that opens — the font will be added to Font Book.

Step 3. Restart the app

Photoshop and CorelDRAW read the font list at launch. Quit the app completely and open it again — the font will appear in the list under its own name.

If the Kazakh letters still don’t show up

  • Make sure the right font is selected: older versions of fonts with the same name often lack Kazakh letters. Remove the old version and install the new one.
  • Type the letters using a Kazakh keyboard layout or copy them from the Kazakh alphabet page.
  • Upload the file to the «Check your font» tool — it will show which letters are missing.
